Li Foundation was honoured to host Dr Zhou, Jessica, and George from Haidilao for a meaningful exchange on how businesses can leverage their networks and resources to uplift vulnerable communities and drive social change.
During the session, the Haidilao team shared insights into their unique management philosophy, with a strong emphasis on staff welfare as the cornerstone of their corporate social responsibility efforts. Recognising that many of their employees come from rural areas and often relocate to cities for work, Haidilao provides comprehensive support—covering housing, education, and healthcare—so employees with children can bring their families to live with them. In addition, Haidilao established an emergency fund to support employees and their families during times of crisis, ensuring that those facing unexpected financial hardship are not left behind. Through these initiatives, Haidilao’s impact extends far beyond the workplace, fostering a culture of care that strengthens entire family units and rural communities, truly embodying their belief in treating staff like family (把员工当成家人对待).
Beyond their employees’ immediate families and communities, Haidilao takes care of the broader society through Haidilao Foundation, their philanthropic arm dedicated to supporting children’s welfare and education. Notably, the Foundation collaborates with the Ai You Foundation on the “Beauty in Kindness” project, where artwork created by children was auctioned to raise funds to improve healthcare and living conditions for underprivileged children aged 0–14. Additionally, Haidilao supports educational endeavours, such as funding the Jianyang Tongcai Experimental School, to provide quality learning opportunities for students in need.
Haidilao’s approach of using business as the basis for philanthropy is deeply inspiring and resonates with Li Foundation’s belief in integrating social and financial capital to amplify impact. We look forward to exploring future paths for collaboration with Haidilao to promote community development in Singapore and a vibrant philanthropic landscape in Asia.
