On 25 September 2026, the Li Foundation team, together with participants from the third cohort of the Executive Leadership Program (ELP), joined Diabetes Singapore at its 55th Anniversary Gala in Singapore, celebrating more than five decades of serving the community.
The gala was graced by Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, whose presence underscored the importance of Diabetes Singapore’s work and the wider community that has grown around it. Guests included partners, supporters, and friends from across Singapore’s social and healthcare sectors. The Li Foundation was honored to be recognized on stage as a Silver Sponsor.
As Singapore becomes a super-aged society, the Li Foundation has stepped up its support for older adults this year, including supporting Lions Home for the Elders and organizing Relay Majulah 2026 with the theme For the Elderly in Our Community. Supporting Diabetes Singapore is a natural extension of this commitment. With one in four older adults aged 70 to 74 in Singapore affected by diabetes, preventing and managing the condition is central to helping seniors age with good health and dignity.
The Li Foundation was also delighted that ELP Cohort 3 participants, Chinese philanthropy and social sector leaders in Singapore for the program’s Singapore Module, joined the evening. ELP is jointly organized by the China Global Philanthropy Institute and the Li Foundation. Beyond the celebrations, the gala gave participants a front-row view of how a well-established agency raises funds and tells the story of its work. They soaked in the atmosphere and saw firsthand how a long-standing organization brings supporters together around a shared cause. For established leaders in philanthropy and social impact, these are valuable lessons that no classroom can fully replicate. Bringing them to events like this is part of the Li Foundation’s role as a bridge between Singapore and the wider region.
The evening was a reminder that lasting impact is built over decades, through the dedication of teams and volunteers, the trust of the community, and the generosity of partners who believe in the cause. The Li Foundation is grateful to Diabetes Singapore for its sustained efforts in serving the community and looks forward to potential collaborations to improve the health and lives of seniors in Singapore.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
