As Singapore prepares for SG60, the Community Chest Fú Dài 2025 initiative continues its annual tradition of bringing festive cheer to seniors and lower-income families during the Lunar New Year. As a Golden Partner of Fú Dài 2025, Li Foundation is proud to support this long-standing tradition of giving.
On January 18, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong officially launched Community Chest Fú Dài 2025, marking the start of the large-scale distribution. At the event, Lionel Li received an award from Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development, and Mr. Chew Sutat, Chairman of Community Chest, in recognition of Li Foundation’s contributions to the initiative.
A day earlier, on January 17, 2025, Lionel, alongside Gingko Fellows and Li Foundation members, dedicated an afternoon to volunteering with 1,300 volunteers to pack 9,000 Fú Dài bags. Their participation reflects Li Foundation’s commitment to engaged philanthropy, where giving extends beyond financial support to direct community involvement.
Speaking at the ceremony, DPM Gan Kim Yong emphasized the importance of collective giving:
“Those who have more should give to those who may need more. And by supporting one another, we will foster a more caring and inclusive society, deepen mutual trust, and ensure that we can move forward together as one united people.”
Since 2014, Community Chest Fú Dài has united corporate and community partners to pack and distribute prosperity bags (Fú Dài) filled with essentials and festive treats, bringing warmth to those in need during the Lunar New Year. Now a nationwide movement, it rallies thousands of volunteers each year, supporting over 200 critical social service programmes across five key causes. Fú Dài exemplifies the power of collective action, fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society.
