Tanoto Foundation (TF) is an independent philanthropic organization founded by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto based on the belief that every person should have the opportunity to realize his or her full potential. TF started its work in 1981 when their founders established a kindergarten and elementary school in Besitang, North Sumatra.
Operating in Singapore, Indonesia, China and the Americas, TF focuses on high-impact programmes in early childhood education and development, basic education, development of future leaders and medical research. As CEO, Benny oversees the strategy development and implementation of the Foundation’s global philanthropic activities, as well as fosters collaborations to amplify the impact of the Foundation.
Li Foundation (LIF) and TF are both members of the Asia Philanthropy Circle (APC) and have collaborated in several projects through the APC platform. These includes Early Children Development (ECD) Research, the first ECD Collaborative Fund in mainland China and Inspiring Asia.
Inspiring Asia is a unique platform dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories that showcases Asia’s diverse cultures, innovative spirit, and commitment to positive change. It empowers the young generation to shed light on social, environmental, and community challenges, while celebrating the love, determination, and aspirations that defines the Asian spirit. Since its inaugural film festival in 2022, TF has showcased their films for the past three years.
LIF looks forward to a brand-new year with brand new possibilities in collaborative philanthropy with TF.
