Leveraging Art and Education for Social Impact: A Conversation with Junson Capital

The Li Foundation team recently met Mengya, Head of Charity Programs at Junson Capital, to learn more about the firm’s unique approach to combining investment excellence with purposeful giving.

With offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Frankfurt, and New York, Junson Capital is not merely a global investment management company with an impressive portfolio of over USD 5 billion in assets under management. It is also the driving force behind the Junson Foundation—an independent philanthropic organisation in Asia dedicated to advancing global initiatives at the intersection of art and education.

Through strategic grantmaking, Junson Foundation supports projects that nurture artistic expression, expand educational access, and promote cross-cultural understanding. As a champion for emerging talents, Junson Foundation runs the Asia Artist in Residence Program, an initiative that brings young international artists to leading schools across Asia for short-term residencies of one to three months. During this time, artists co-create art pieces with students and conduct public workshops for parents and the community, sharing their cultural knowledge and artistic skills. The program culminates in a charity exhibition cum auction that showcases work from the artists and students— enabling artists to expand their reach while raising funds for art programs or charitable initiatives.

In turn, Li Foundation shared about our flagship initiative, the Inspiring Asia Micro Film Festival, which taps into the arts to connect cultures and inspire social innovation. Through the medium of micro films (7 minutes or less), Inspiring Asia brings together and empowers filmmakers, universities, and NGOs to spotlight social, environmental, and community challenges while fostering meaningful dialogue. Beyond recognising creative talent via the Best Micro Film Award, Inspiring Asia also supports impactful charitable projects and NGOs through the Best Project Award, helping them sustain and scale transformative work across the region.

Li Foundation looks forward to future collaboration opportunities with Junson Foundation and other like-minded partners who share a commitment to unlocking creativity and capital for the common good.
