On December 13, 2024, the Beijing District of the China Council of Lions Clubs hosted a special reception to welcome Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) Chairman Dr. Patti Hill. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Melvin Jones Humanitarian Lifetime Achievement Award to Lionel Li in recognition of his nearly two decades of philanthropic and humanitarian service. District Governor Liu Haiyan accepted the award on his behalf, honoring his profound contributions to global philanthropy.
A video tribute showcased Lionel’s journey since joining the Beijing Lions Club in 2005, highlighting his impact on youth development, elderly care, medical assistance, and disability support. As Past District Governor (2008-09) and through the Li Foundation, he has strengthened global partnerships and inspired Lions to engage in philanthropy with international reach.
Dr. Hill reflected on Melvin Jones’ vision, emphasizing the Lions’ enduring mission of service, leadership, and community impact. The lion emblem, symbolizing courage, strength, and loyalty, continues to guide Lions worldwide in their commitment to justice and peace.
Melvin Jones once said, “You can’t get very far until you start doing something for someone else.” Lionel Li’s legacy embodies this spirit—bridging communities, inspiring service, and making a lasting impact through compassion and action.
