The SportCares – Li Foundation MultiSport Programme (“SLFMSP”) is an ongoing 2-year programme supported by the partnership between SportCares Foundation and Li Foundation. The programme provides school and community-based training for youths, focused on swimming, running and cycling.  It aims to provide a platform for the participants to achieve better educational and developmental outcomes as they develop resilience and perseverance to steer clear of negative influences and delinquency. The programme also hopes for participants to learn and develop new skills to maximise their potential, while giving back and contributing to community development.

The SLFMSP partners with various agencies, such as Sport Singapore and the Triathlon Association , as well as national athletes and volunteers to conduct coaching sessions and workshops for the participants. Learning the three foundational sports provides opportunities for them to participate in a wide variety of sport play, either recreationally or professionally, such as athletics and triathlon.

As part of the programme, participants are required to give back to their communities through group volunteering activities or social action projects. During the COVID-19 circuit breaker period, participants prepared appreciation cards and packed care packaged for frontline workers and migrant workers.

The pioneer batch of the SLFMSP comprised of 64 participants from the following community partners – Boys’ Town, Muhammadiyah Welfare Home, and NorthLight School. In 2021, 60 new participants from Darul Ihsan Orphanage for Girls, PPIS Student Care Centre (Bedok), and PPIS Student Care Centre (Jurong) will be joining the programme. Selected participants will be given the opportunity to attend additional workshops and clinics, to groom them as youth instructors to assist the coaches in training future participants.
