Leading up to the Lunar New Year, Li Foundation met with OceanX, a global nonprofit dedicated to advancing ocean discovery and ocean literacy. The exchange opened up meaningful conversations around science communication, youth engagement, and potential collaboration.
Founded on the belief that the ocean is central to humanity’s future, OceanX blends science, media, and education to ensure that scientific discoveries are not only made, but also understood and acted upon by wider audiences.
By combining deep-sea scientific exploration with compelling storytelling and immersive learning experiences, OceanX seeks to:
In recent years, OceanX has conducted scientific mission trips across Southeast Asia, collecting ocean data while engaging governments, NGOs, and leading universities in dialogue. Their collaborative approach includes partnerships with established conservation organisations such as World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Conservation International (CI), and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) — organisations with over 25 years of experience in Asia. Through these partnerships, OceanX integrates scientific research with regional expertise and long-term conservation strategies.
Both OceanX and Li Foundation share a deep belief in the power of stories to illuminate social and environmental issues. For OceanX, storytelling comes alive through its immersive exhibition at ArtScience Museum from June to November, where participants can experience diving into the depths, encountering marine life, and engaging with the science behind ocean conservation. Similarly, Li Foundation channels storytelling through Inspiring Asia, its festival celebrating social impact, cultural expression, and environmental awareness. Together, both organisations see narrative as a bridge — connecting audiences to urgent global challenges and inspiring informed action.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
