The SportCares – Li Foundation Multisport Programme has continued to grow in both participation and impact, with more children joining the duathlon after successfully learning how to ride a bicycle. To support the increasing number of participants and enhance training opportunities, new bicycles were purchased, ensuring that more children have access to safe and suitable equipment. The programme has enabled participants to build confidence, improve their running, cycling and swimming skills with weekly sessions conducted by professional coaches.
The progress made by the children has also been reflected in their readiness for upcoming multisport events. Building on their progress in running and cycling, many participants have begun acquiring swimming skills through training sessions that resumed after the pandemic, enabling greater participation in upcoming triathlon scheduled for September this year. This marks an important milestone for the programme demonstrating how sustained coaching and support are helping participants gain confidence, acquire new skills, and engage more fully in multisport activities.
During the duathlon on 5th June, Li Foundation was honoured to present the teachers at 7oaks Student Care the Relay SG60 commerative photobook and a blown up photo of the children who took part in the Relay SG60 by Relay Majulah to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday. This relay was not only a tribute to Singapore’s 60th anniversary, but also a remarkable union of community spirit and the power of sports shape lives.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
