Eighteen months ago, Li Foundation Director Candy embarked on a learning journey at the China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI), participating in the Executive Management of Philanthropy (EMP) programme. Over the course of the programme, she attended monthly classes held at CGPI’s Shenzhen and Beijing campuses, conducted by renowned domestic and international professors, entrepreneurs, and philanthropy practitioners. Candy was also honoured with one of the Outstanding Participant Award for EMP Batch 19.
The most valuable philanthropic skill she gained at CGPI was learning how to turn goodwill into systematic action. The programme has reaffirmed that philanthropy is not only about passion and/or short-term effort. Her learning has deepened her understanding to problem-oriented practices, leveraging cross-sector collaborations, data, and professional tools to design solutions that are sustainable and replicable through project design, impact measurement, and partnerships across government, private and social sectors. She developed a more disciplined and structured approach to doing good, strengthening both strategic thinking and execution, guided by a constant question: So what? For what?
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
