From 19 to 21 Nov 2025, Bloomberg held its signature New Economy Forum in Singapore, convening leaders from the private, public, and people sectors to discuss the economic consequences of geopolitical shifts and technological advancement globally. Chairman of Li Foundation, Lionel, was invited to attend the Visionaries roundtable alongside leading family office principals and pioneering entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Singapore, and India. Hosted by Michael Bloomberg, the session proved to be insightful and enriching, with spirited discussion on philanthropy, personal investment philosophies, and generational succession planning.
Michael himself set the tone for the conversation. As one of the world’s most significant philanthropists, he has long championed data-driven, collaborative approaches to tackling global challenges. Through Bloomberg Philanthropies, he has committed USD 21.1 billion over his lifetime to areas such as public health, climate action, education, the arts, and government innovation. His efforts have helped accelerate the global transition away from coal, reduce tobacco-related deaths, strengthen city leadership, and expand educational access for underserved communities. Michael’s approach — anchored in bold ambition, relentless experimentation, and evidence-based decision-making — continues to serve as a model for philanthropists globally.
For Li Foundation, the opportunity to engage directly with him and fellow changemakers at the Forum was both inspiring and energising. Lionel left the session feeling honoured to have contributed to the dialogue and deeply encouraged by the collective commitment to shaping a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future for Asia and the world.
