More than 1,000 seniors and their families participated in The Lions 65 Community Carnival 2023, held on 18th and 19th March. The event was a huge success, with sponsorships from Li Foundation (LIF) and other organizations.
Lionel, Chairman of LIF , was among the volunteers serving the elderly in the community that day. At the LC 65 Dinner on Mar 19th, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development, Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, and District Governor of Lions Club D308-A1, Mr. Ho Sum Kwong, presented Certificates of Appreciation and plaques to LIF and other sponsors in recognition of their dedication to serving the community.
Lionel’s commitment to the public welfare began with the Lions Club, where he previously served as the Past District Governor of D385 in Beijing China from 2008 to 2009. Now he is an associate member of the Singapore Lions Club Bifrost. His presence at the carnival emphasized the importance of giving back to the community and making a positive impact through acts of kindness.
During the carnival, Minister Dr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim presented a Certificate Application to Mr. Yuan Zheng, who is a member of LCS Bifrost and a sponsor of this event. The Lions 65 Community Carnival showcased the Lions Club’s commitment to making a positive impact in the community, offering a range of activities, performances, and health talks for the whole family to enjoy, including bazaars, food and beverage stalls, Lions Informational and Programme booths, kids’ corner, photobooth, and free health screenings.
The event brought together people from all walks of life, and the spirit of volunteerism was evident throughout the carnival. As the Lions Club motto “We Serve” goes, the success of the carnival is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all that were involved.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
