Lionel, Chairman of the Li Foundation, recently hosted Mr. Wang Ge, Chairman of the Beijing Qianyue Foundation, for an in-depth discussion on philanthropy.
Established in 2022, the Qianyue Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and families in China by improving their access to basic necessities, education, and healthcare. Mr. Wang reflected on his experiences in the charity sector over the past few years, highlighting priority areas such as mental health, neurodiverse individuals, an ageing population, and addressing environmental degradation. He also shared his aspirations for the sector – developing public welfare professionals with deep subject-matter expertise, advancing scientific research for preventive solutions, and using innovative giving mechanisms like donor-advised funds (DAFs) to encourage wider participation in philanthropy. In turn, Lionel shared about Li Foundation’s giving strategy, its efforts to promote collaborative philanthropy, and emerging philanthropic trends, including the growing relevance of cross-border giving platforms like the Asia Community Foundation.
Li Foundation is encouraged by the growing presence of purpose-driven organisations like Qianyue Foundation in China. As both foundations strive to address complex social challenges, Li Foundation looks forward to continuing the exchange of knowledge and exploring opportunities for collective impact.
