In partnership with the Asia Philanthropy Circle (APC) and Asia Community Foundation (ACF), DBS Bank, the founding bank partner of ACF hosted a fireside chat event at the National Gallery, featuring Guest-of-Honour Mr. Heng Swee Kiat, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, along with distinguished speakers Mr. Laurence Lien and Mr. Lionel Li. The chat was moderated by Mr. Lee Woon Shiu, Managing Director and Group Head of Wealth Planning, Family Office and Insurance Solutions in DBS Bank.
While the chat brings awareness to the audience (comprising potential donors) about the available network, platform and trusted partners in Singapore that may be able to provide the necessary support and expertise to help them make confident and purposeful giving decisions. Lionel also shared his personal experience; the challenges he faced when trying to integrate into the Singapore community and his philanthropic journey.
ACF seeks to become the one-stop hub for philanthropy in Asia, to make giving easier, more efficient, and more impactful. Building on the good work of its sister organisation the APC, ACF works with different partners to grow a community of like-minded philanthropists and foster collaboration on meaningful projects across Asia.
Asia is a dynamic and diverse region; there are many economic opportunities yet also gaps in meeting the social and developmental needs. Given our extensive linkages to the region and our strong ecosystem, Singapore can play a useful role in facilitating the deployment of capital and donations across Asia, to help unlock Asia’s growth potential.
