Bridging Data, Creativity, and Social Impact: Connecting with Bloomberg to Explore Innovation in Philanthropy

What happens when data, creativity, and social innovation converge?

This question framed a recent exchange between Li Foundation Chairman Lionel and Jiang Lei, Relationship Manager at Bloomberg, as they explored how purposeful collaboration can amplify social impact. Their discussion revealed strong resonance between Bloomberg’s social impact philosophy and Li Foundation’s values of Innovation, Integration, and Impact. By harnessing its unique expertise in data and media, and by working with governments, corporations, and nonprofits, Bloomberg is building the capacity of charities and strengthening the social impact ecosystem.

One of Bloomberg’s newest initiatives—the Data for Good Exchange (D4GX) program—illustrates their commitment in action. Launched in 2025, D4GX empowers charities to leverage the power of data to enhance their operations, design effective programs, and communicate more persuasively with stakeholders. Through training, expert mentorship, and potential grant support, the program equips nonprofits with essential skills in data strategy, management, visualization, analysis, and storytelling—enabling organizations to turn insights into impact while advancing Singapore’s Smart Nation Initiative.

Similarly, Li Foundation taps on the power of stories – a form of qualitative data – to enhance social impact. Its signature initiative, the Inspiring Asia Micro Film Festival, is a unique platform for amplifying voices and stories that showcase Asia’s diverse cultures, innovative spirit, and commitment to positive change. It empowers the young generation to shed light on social, environmental, and community challenges, while celebrating the love, determination, and aspirations that define the Asian spirit. Beyond recognising artistic talent, Inspiring Asia supports charitable projects and NGOs through monetary prizes and publicity, helping them continue their transformative work. At its heart, the initiative fosters collaborative philanthropy — bridging borders, ideas, and generations to build a more inclusive and sustainable Asia.

From data to storytelling, the dialogue between Li Foundation and Bloomberg underscores a shared belief—that creativity, when guided by purpose and informed by strategy, can uplift organisations and communities they support, creating lasting impact across Asia.
