In mid-January, the Li Foundation welcomed a delegation from the Renmin University of China, led by Guo Dong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Renmin University of China Education Foundation, and Yang Weidong, Associate Professor at North China Electric Power University and researcher at Renmin University of China’s Institute of Public Governance. Bao Wei and Ma Cheng, Vice Presidents of the Renmin University of China Alumni Association (Southeast Asia), accompanied the visit.
During the exchange, Li Foundation representative Jerome provided a detailed introduction to the Foundation’s mission, vision, development journey, and key recent projects in Southeast Asia—including the Relay SG60 Charity Relay and the Inspiring Asia Micro Film Festival. Guo Dong shared updates on preparations for Renmin University’s 90th-anniversary celebration, while Yang Weidong outlined current priorities for university foundations in China. Both sides agreed that integrating alumni engagement with philanthropy is a key pathway for universities to give back to society.
The delegates expressed strong interest in Inspiring Asia, recognizing its potential for significant social impact by amplifying voices and stories that showcase the region’s diverse cultures, innovative spirit, and commitment to positive change. They also explored ways in which philanthropic projects could serve as a bridge to foster academic exchanges between Chinese and Singaporean universities in public governance, social sciences, and related fields.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
